Could there possibly more upsets this year than we have seen in last year's World Cup? Can the Kiwis stay on top? Australia will be out for revenge in this year's Anzac test. Super League returns for its fourteenth season this year with Leeds Rhinos as reigning champions. With its expansion to fourteen teams, this Super League season is shaping up to be the most competitive and exciting in its history. Come Grand Final night, who will be taking home the trophy and the title of Super League Champions 2009?

With no promotion to Super League at stake, some say this will be a "pointless" season. But with only just over two years to the next round of franchise decisions, you can bet there will be a host of clubs aiming to put in strong performances to back up their claims. The division also has a cross channel flavour for the first time ever, with the introduction of Toulouse Olympique. Widnes, Halifax, Leigh, 'Fev 'Haven and the French newcomers are all in with a chance for the end of season play offs.

Many teams have recruited well in the off season and the new Championship 1 should be a really competitive affair. Oldham and relegated Dewsbury will be favourites for promotion, but Swinton, Rochdale, York and Keighley will all have something to say about that. Gateshead Thunder were last season's dark horses, could it be the Panthers in 2009?
